When you think of Oman, chances are the first idea that’ll come to your mind is that of cities in the middle of the Arabian Desert… Except that, it is not the case wherever you go. Oman is a country that features many different landscapes, types of weather and natural environments.
In effect, a lot of people visiting Oman go for a weekend getaway to “Al Jabal Al Akhdar”, a high mountains’ area two hours outside of Muscat, that’ll make anyone feel they’re actually in Lebanon.
It took me many visits to Oman to finally visit Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar for a weekend (finally), and here’s what I can recommend for all of you wanting to visit:
-The area is only open for SUVs, you can’t get there in a regular car, so make sure you or your team have one.
-Make sure you always have a jacket, even if you’re going during summer because it can get much colder at night.
-Have your camera, because besides the beautiful nature, you will catch the most beautiful sunsets there.
-Comfortable shoes are a must, you might want to walk around or even engage in outdoor sports.
-Some restaurants cannot be accessed if you’re informal; so make sure you have at least one classic outfit.
-The only shisha lounge I found was in Anantara and you can only access it if you’re staying at the hotel … So … If you can’t let your shisha down, book there.
-Some gorgeous places are inaccessible by car, and you might want to walk some steep edges, so dress comfortably by day.
-When dining, always pick the outdoors options at any hotel, because well… you can see interiors any time, but the outdoors there are truly amazing and the weather at night is just perfect (sunset onward).
I will leave you now with a few pictures I snapped there; let me know if Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar is on your must-visit list!!
