So I had my New Year trip planned to Istanbul, and guess what?! A snow storm hit from the first till the last day of my vacation! Sounds like a bummer, but not really. Istanbul during snow is simply breathtaking and there’s a lot one can do once trapped in the snow in a beautiful city.
In this article, I will talk less about my trip, and more about what you can do if you are planning a short vacation in a snowy city!
So you’re set to go to a beautiful city in the Northern hemisphere and BAM it is snowing; here’s how to make your trip memorable:
-Make sure you book your stay in a beautiful hotel with a great spa and winter facilities.
-Spot the best indoor restaurants in town for your lunches and dinners.
-Nightlife fan? Spot the best clubs in town and make early reservations especially if you are flying during high seasons.
-Malls are such saviors on snowy days, so make sure you spot the interesting malls where you can shop for the things and brands you can’t find back home.
-Do not shy away from visiting the beautiful streets in the city; but make sure you’re dressed for it.
-Museums, cultural hubs and art galleries are also a great option for the mid-day when the great outdoors is simply not an option.
During my recent stay in snowy Istanbul, this is exactly what I did, I visited different malls, galleries and interesting streets for fun, pinned down the must-try food places, hit a couple of clubs and definitely Istiklal street. Below is a run down of the few pictures I took in the process!
What’s your formula for a snowy city trip??
