I heard almost everything about strong makeup. But the two arguments that are usually used the most are: Strong makeup is for insecure women; and its total opposite statement that strong makeup is for bold confident women.
In my opinion, there’s some truth to both statement. Some insecure women wear strong makeup for they are interested in hiding their flaws -or what they perceive as their flaws. But some strong women, who go around a la naturelle a lot of times, also like to wear statement makeup sometimes.
I do not understand all the accusations behind strong makeup and statement makeup, or that love and hate relationship, rather that love and fear relationship with it. Not everyone wearing strong makeup is ugly underneath it all, nor insecure. Makeup is a mood, and a lot of moods correspond perfectly to such a makeup.
When it comes to me; I admit that I am only without makeup at home, around friends and at the gym – spa or so; but I also go with minimal makeup most of the time (concealer, loose powder, bronzer, mascara and lipstick).
However, I am also into statement makeup whenever the time justifies it; and when I do go for strong makeup, it is either dramatic eyes or dark lips. What I try to avoid at all costs in too much shine.
For this post, I am wearing a truly strong makeup with major focus on the eyes. After seeing the pictures, I realized the lips should have been dressed in a “nuder” nude; but overall I love it.
Pulling this makeup at home shouldn’t be hard (except the lashes); and I will be talking about it in subsequent posts; but until then I will be working on my upcoming beauty collaboration (to be revealed soon on the blog).
Do not shy away from strong makeup; once a while looking strong and dramatic can be your thing.
